Last month, Paul Roos Gymnasium hosted an art exhibition and outreach programme by name of See and Be Seen, in the newly-built Long Room at the Paul Roos Gymnasium Cricket Oval, from 11am to 4pm.
In November, it is the long-awaited official opening of the Indoor Cricket Centre, where the Long Room will once again be a space of celebration – the birthday of celebrated Stellenbosch artist and Paul Roos Old Boy, Portchie.
This internationally known artist sold more than 18 500 original art works over the last 30 years, and more than a million of his prints have been sold and are appreciated in households and offices across the globe.
With more than 80 solo exhibitions, the Great 58 Exhibition will be Portchie’s first solo exhibition in Stellenbosch in 18 years.
“I work with a huge element of joy, which runs through the fibre of my work”, says Portchie.
“This exhibition revolves around my 58th birthday and I promise to present you all with something very special”.
The artist will be exhibiting 58 special paintings to celebrate his birthday of the same number. He invites fans and art collectors to attend the special opening and one-day-exhibition, to join in the celebrations and explore and purchase their favourite works of art.
