Anita van Zyl, an artist from Somerset West, recently returned from France, where she stayed in the heart of Paris for two months at the Cite Internationale des Arts.
During her stay she kept a blog (www.paris encore.weebly.com), sharing her daily trials and tribulations.
Anita is inspired by the French culture and way of life, and during her stay in Paris she saw the mighty Seine rise and fall, and experienced this iconic city as a local.
Her favourite artists are the impressionists, especially Monet. She usually works in oil, but while in France she taught herself watercolours and used the medium to make sketches of everyday French life and for ideas for future paintings.
For information of her open studio, which will be held tomorrow, Thursday July 28, from 11am to 9pm, contact her at bzz@buzz-box.net or 082 415 5609.
