Parel Vallei actress shines

■ Angelique Filter, pictured, along with fellow Parel Vallei High School pupil, Thalia Alberts, competed in the National Acting Competition for High School Learners. Both made it into the first of the final rounds of the competition, where 90 competitors presented a monologue at the Artscape Theatre on Thursday May 3 and into the next round on Friday May 4. Angelique went through to the top 16 and top eight rounds, eventually finishing third overall at the final on Saturday May 5. She was also selected to play a role in an upcoming production which is specifically written for five selected competitors from this competition, which will be performed at next year’s Stellenbosch Woord Fees.
