The Franschhoek Valley Football Club (FVFC) established in September 2016, aims to give children in the Franschhoek Valley the opportunity to play club football with a chance to develop into future professional players. The academy currently has an under-13 boys’ side of 16 players, with the intention of expanding the number of teams by the 2018 season. The programme’s objective is to develop team members into well-rounded individuals, on and off the field. Training sessions are already under way four days a week and the final team was announced on Friday March 3. Sessions are currently being held at the Franschhoek Community Sports Centre with participating schools including Franschhoek High, Groendal Primary, Dalebuhle, Bridge House, Wemmershoek and Wes Eind.
