New principal

■ Newberry House on Lourensford Estate has a new principal – Alistair Green is a Stellenbosch University graduate who has spent the past 11 years in the UK where he became assistant headteacher at a school in Surrey. Asked why he had left a promising career in the UK to return home, Green explained: “My wife and I always said that if the right opportunity presented itself, we would love to apply the experience we have picked up in the UK to add value to our wonderful country. As an expat, you are frequently out of your comfort zone, which forces you to learn to do things differently. I am really keen to share these experiences to help build a better South Africa. I think there is so much potential here, especially in the field of education.”
