Man caught cheating at licence testing centre

A 38-year-old man was caught cheating during a learner licence test at the Gordon’s Bay Driving Licence Testing Centre on Thursday November 15.

The Bellville resident was spotted by the manager at the centre who was invigilating the test.

The invigilator noticed that the man was answering the questions without reading the question book.

The manager also noticed that the suspect was leaning back in his chair and looking at something in his lap which later turned out to be a crib note with all of the answers.

The suspect was confronted and removed from the testing centre.

A case of fraud was opened.

This is a second cheating incident this year.

In May, a 26-year-old man from Langa was arrested for cheating on his learner licence at the Milnerton Driving Licence Testing Centre.

Mayoral committee member for safety and security; and social services, JP Smith, said; “It is unfortunate that some applicants take shortcuts in this manner. If they get away with it, it means that they end up on the roads, behind a wheel of a vehicle, posing a danger to themselves and others. If they get caught, they end up with a criminal record.”
