Pupils and staff from Oklahoma Primary School in Macassar demonstrated the power of community spirit and generosity through their recent Civvies Day initiative, raising an incredible R10 000 in support of Helderberg Hospice.
Deputy Principal, Dexter Fischer, explained the deeply personal motivation behind the school’s choice of charity, saying: “Many people in our community have been touched by the services of Helderberg Hospice. It was an easy decision to select hospice as our charity of choice.”
Deputy Principal, Ryan MacHelm, also expressed his full support for the initiative, praising the learners and staff for their dedication to making a difference.
Helderberg Hospice has warmly welcomed this meaningful contribution.
“This amazing effort is so gratefully received. For young people to take Helderberg Hospice into their hearts and make such an incredible impact is truly inspiring,” said Cheryl Rundle, donor liaison for Helderberg Hospice.
The funds raised will go a long way in helping Helderberg Hospice continue its vital work in providing compassionate care to people and families facing life-limiting illnesses.
Oklahoma Primary School’s efforts stand as a shining example of how young people, with the support of their community, can create a profound and lasting impact.
