Employees of Engen, known as Engenites, in partnership with Gift of the Givers, visited Nomzamo Community Hall in Strand on Mandela Day earlier this month, to distribute blankets, hygiene packs and serve 1000 hot nutritious meals to Lwandle township residents.
Many of these residents were affected by the recent gale-force winds and flooding that wreaked havoc in the Western Cape last week.
Ali Sablay, Gift of the Givers Project Manager, expressed his gratitude for Engen’s continued support over the years. “We are proud to partner with Engen to mark this important day. Our long-standing partnership with Engen has been pivotal in ensuring that aid reaches those who need it most.
“Engen always heeds the call for help. Engen and Gift of the Givers visited the Lwandle township area last week to hand out essential supplies, including food packs, to assist those impacted by the severe Cape weather.”
Engen CSI Manager, Olwethu Mdabula, highlighted the significance of the initiative. “This year, Engen and its employees dedicated a day to giving back to disadvantaged communities. This initiative not only honours Mandela’s legacy but also demonstrates our commitment to social responsibility and fostering a spirit of unity and compassion among our employees to make a tangible impact on the community.”
Engen has partnered with Gift of the Givers since 2019, providing fuel support that enables swift and efficient disaster response operations.
