The Western Cape Artists’ Society (WCAS) invites the public to attend an acrylic pouring art demonstration by artist Jean Hazlitt on Thursday June 13.
According to the society, Jean has always been creative, which helped in aspects of her corporate career.
For stress relief, she played hockey and created arts and crafts. Jean started painting rocks and hiding them around Cape Town to brighten up people’s days.
Jean’s husband challenged her to “go bigger” with her rock paintings. Jean learnt from lots of mistakes, and got hooked on pouring art. This was like a “no rule zone” for Jean with all the rules in the corporate world.
Jean started displaying her art at craft markets. What a very exciting day to officially sell her first painting. It was a great feeling to know her loved picture would be enjoyed by someone else, but also very sad to release it.
This started her official art journey and she kept upskilling as much as she could.
Jean joined art societies and submitted paintings to be judged. A great way to keep learning.
While learning herself Jean is happy to teach others and learn together.
Members of the public can learn with Jean in the Helderberg on Thursday June 13, at 6.30pm at the Rotary Club Hall, Lourensford Road, Somerset West.
Arrival time is at 6pm in order to start at 6.30pm. Entry fees are R20 for members and non-members pay R30, which includes tea or coffee.
