JC Bekker, pictured, has been appointed as the new CEO at Rupert and Rothschild Vignerons in Franschhoek. He succeeds Schalk-Willem Joubert, who recently resigned after 20 years with the company.
Mr Bekker has 24 years’ experience in the South African wine industry having been involved in winery management, wine making and viticulture.
Besides BSc Honours degrees in oenology and viticulture (cum laude) from the University of Stellenbosch, he also holds a post graduate diploma in wine management practice from the Universities of Adelaide and Cape Town.Â
Mr Bekker spent 22 years with South African liquor company DGB, where he was cellar master of the group’s Boschendal winery before heading up all wine making activities within DGB.
 He took up his new position at Rupert and Rothschild on Friday June 1.
