The Interchange Foundation is a community collaboration NGO based at Helderberg Village in Somerset West. It’s mission is to implement a model for retirement villages to actively engage with all role-players within their communities in a quest for a “viable and unified community”, one of the precepts of the National Development Plan. The brainchild of Helderberg Village resident, Dr Beatrice Wiid, the Interchange Foundation has four projects under way: the “WEHELP” project for Helderberg Village staff members, and three other community projects in Raithby, Keisie (Montagu district), and Die Vlakte in Stellenbosch. Each Helderberg Village staff member will receive a Consol solar light jar from the“WEHELP” project at Helderberg Village, to aid staff at home in times of load shedding.
