In response to Jemima Kola’s poem (Bolander October 19), I wish to salute and praise her for being so open-minded and honest.
It has really touched me to know that there are youth, like her who will stand up and speak the truth – for the truth will set you free.
Jemima, you have given me hope and trust in believing that there are many more young people like you who have similar feelings, but who feel they may be intimidated should they come forward and raise their voices.
However, you stood up and I praise you for that.
You have made me, an elderly so proud and words are not enough to say how proud the leaders of South Africa should be of you.
I want to read your letter again and again as it has encouraged me not to also give up.
You covered so many facts which entail every aspect that the youth should take note of and treasure.
They should build on everything for the future and not destroy that which has been accomplished.
Jemima, you are a real stalwart, and if given the opportunity I know you will become an honourable person and leader like Thuli Madonsela.
For you have the same integrity, honesty and compassion.
All the very best for you in future.
