Hottentots Holland pupil makes school proud

The first performance of Tiger Bay the Musical took place at the Artscape Theatre in Cape Town recently. Michael Williams, managing director of Cape Town Opera, wrote the book and the libretto and the world premiere performance will be at the Donald Gordon Theatre in Cardiff, Wales later in the year. Michael is a past pupil of Hottentots Holland High School in Somerset West, and the music staff and pupils of the school attended a performance. “Michael has retained his ties with his alma mater over the years”, says Cor Gardiner, head of the music department, “and in 2005 we were honoured when he wrote the book and lyrics for the romantic musical comedy Wonderfully Wicked which had its gala performance at the school.
