Ndiza Gallery and Krystal Beach Hotel in Gordon’s Bay are appealing to the public to support their wildlife project, Turning hurt to Hope. Hope, a six-year-old rhino, was attacked by poachers, who hacked off both her horns and left her for dead. Badly mutilated, she wandered around and hid in the bushes for four days and five nights.
Saving the Survivors, who attend to injured endangered wildlife that have fallen victim to poaching or traumatic incidents, performed multiple surgeries, and saved her life. Raffle tickets cost R100. The first prize is an artwork titled Hope, by Di Webb; the second prize is a weekend for two at Krystal Beach, and third prize is art by Di Webb. All proceeds will go to Saving the Survivors.
