This is a letter of praise to the Department of Home Affairs in Somerset West from which we received the best possible service.
We were about 60th in line one morning to make application for new identity documents and renewal of our passports.
Before we reached the door, we were asked the purpose of our visit, and re-directed to a different line. Once inside the building, we were attended to with courtesy and efficiency including the taking of photos, fingerprints and processing of our information.
While still at the counter, we received a texted acknowledgement of receipt of our documents, and that we will be notified of collection of our new documents.
All this was accomplished in less than two hours, and most remarkable of all, it was a complete paperless transaction. Kudos for progress.
Lo and behold, one week and two days later I received a text message that my passport was ready for collection.
