Saturday morning regulars, the Jeremys, were recently bemoaning the price of new books and the demise of so many local used-book stores. This Jeremy doesn’t re-read books, so he donated a selection of what Jeremy Chennells refers to as “interesting books” – the idea being that Chelsea Café and Chelsea Bean patrons can borrow the books and return them when read. Readers, in turn, are encouraged to donate some of their own books to keep the selection varied and interesting. Although no theme has been discussed, the hope is that airport ‘literature’ won’t make it onto the shelves. There is no charge, but contact details are required. Owner Fran van Tiddens plans to periodically post the booklist on their Facebook page.
