Local NPO, Single Parents Helping Hands (SPHH) celebrated Mandela Day by collecting toiletries from the public, to meet the hundreds of requests they receive weekly for these items. The organisation tries to make a difference in the lives of many single parents trying to make ends meet. Last year they met their goal of 200 units per product, but this year it was a struggle due to the pandemic, to get to the halfway mark. But, with the help of local businesses and loyal supporters, they reached the 100 unit mark, collecting 123 bars of soap, 98 tubes of toothpaste, 114 bottles of shampoo, 151 roll-on deodorants and 101 packs of sanitary pads, to be distributed to those in need.Â
