Happy hound

This lovely German shepherd went from living on a chain in Maccassar, under-nourished and painfully thin, to a new home with Doris Heusser, right, in Somerset West. She was adopted through Farm Paws (see pages 1 and 3). Doris named her new companion Assante (Swahili for “Thank you”). Doris says she already loves her new companion, who is thriving, after having to bid farewell to her beloved German shepherd, Talitha, just one day before lockdown.
