Team Giant’s Rohan du Plooy took the win at the Medihelp Stellenbosch Cycle Tour on Sunday in wet racing conditions, finishing the 97km route in 2:16:14, beating Craig Boyes (Specialized) and Dan Craven (Namibia). Liezel Jordaan of Route 62 Cycles claimed the victory in the women’s race in a time of 2:31:35. Second and third were Katie Lennard and Lucy James. Almost 5 000 cyclists took part in the event, the second biggest road race in the Western Cape, and the final premier seeding event for the 2018 Cape Town Cycle Tour.
