Helderberg Hospice has announced the resignation of CEO, Gail Sykes, with effect from end September. “During the last six years Gail has substantially re-organised the internal structures of Hospice and in addition has played a valuable role in external Hospice structures and the local Community as a whole, going beyond the normal call of duty to do so,” says Helderberg Hospice chairperson, Julian Weil. “We presently have a staff of 52 and over 200 volunteers, all of which Gail has had under her wing as the CEO and which she has, together with her staff, managed responsibly and well. “In addition, faced as are all other organisations with the prospect of Covid-19, she has worked tirelessly to help us address the risks caused by the pandemic and to help us plan for the future. “We wish to record our thanks and appreciation to Gail for having served not only us, but also the community, so willingly through her efforts as our CEO. We wish Gail well for all her future endeavours which will hopefully include a well-earned rest and allow her to do some travelling.”
