Friends of Paardevlei Dam (FOPD) is a community group that is passionate about the Paardevlei Dam, and according to Jemima Kola (one of the founding members), it has recently launched its website, opening up new opportunities of engagement for the public.
Last week, FOPD’s response to the Heritage Impact Assessment for Paardevlei Heritage Precinct was made known on their website, giving Friends the opportunity to comment and make suggestions regarding ERF 17958 and ERF 17958 in De Beers Avenue.
Their Instagram platform also allows for the viewing of Paardevlei Dam’s beautiful imagery, and whether it’s cycling, jogging or strolling around the circular path, you will constantly be surprised by the natural beauty that still exists in the hub of a fast developing Helderberg, says Jemima.
“During Covid-19 it has become increasingly obvious that Paardevlei Dam area has been a valuable asset and outlet for members of the public to connect with nature, and de-stress through their individual chosen activities along the circular route,” she says, adding, “so please connect with FOPD on any of these platforms and support us in protecting this little gem which is at constant risk of developers.”
