The 25th annual Franschhoek Bastille Festival takes place at the historic Franschhoek Huguenot Monument, on Saturday July 14, from 11am to 5pm, and Sunday July 15, from 11am to 3pm. The village will be a hive of activities, dressed to the nines in the French colours of red, blue and white for the weekend, embracing its French heritage, and adding to the hype and excitement the weekend has become known for. The food and wine marquee, set against the backdrop of the historic Huguenot Monument, will keep out the cold, where you can sample wines and gourmet fare. Highlights include the quirky caricature artist who captures your Bastille experience, the Porcupine Ridge Barrel Rolling Competition, and live music. Tickets to the marquee cost R350 on Saturday, and R280 on Sunday, and include entry, a complimentary tasting glass, a booklet of five wine tasting coupons and a R20 voucher. Children under 18 enter free.
