The Volunteer Wildfire Services (VWS) Jonkershoek and Grabouw firebases deployed two crews on Monday night, March 16, to assist with the Paarl Mountain Fire, which burned for four days, consuming over 1 715ha of alien vegetation, pine trees, and fynbos. The double crew assisted the Cape Winelands Fire Services during an extensive burnout operation, conducted by Limitless Fire, in 12- to 18-year-old fynbos, tasked with ensuring the fire did not jump the road into young fynbos which had burned during the last fire season.
