Extreme weeding

* A cut in time: a large specimen of the invasive weed hakea sericea on the cliffs of Stellenbosch Mountain survived the 2015 fire. Left untouched, it would contaminate the entire mountainside with its seed. Friends of Stellenbosch Mountain went up the mountain to kill it. The picture shows an FSM member flat on his stomach, cutting down the hakea and taking down the 800 seeds. The next FSM hack will take place on Saturday July 16, meeting at the Paradyskloof main gate, at 8am. For information contact Lewis Silberbauer at 082 892 4300 or Hans Eggers at 021 808 3523.
