International Pinotage Day is the perfect reason to explore the off-the-beaten-track Paardeberg countryside to join the area’s wineries at Vondeling Wines for the #PaardebergCountry Pinotage Festival, on Saturday October 12.
The wineries in the foothills of Paardeberg will be showcasing the diversity of the South African signature grape in different styles of red, rosé and sparkling wines.
There will also be music by four-piece band Cherry Vinyl and food and refreshments will be on sale.
The participating wineries are Ayama, Doran Vineyards, Dragonridge, Lammershoek, Perdeberg Cellars, Scali, hosts Vondeling Wines and Wightman and Sons.
The Sunflower Fund will be selling their topes and bands of hope and providing information on its work in fighting life-threatening blood diseases such as leukaemia.
Funds raised go towards education, awareness campaigns and assisting patients and donors in the transplant process.
The festival takes place from 11am to 5pm at Vondeling Wines, Voor-Paardeberg Road.
Tickets cost R150 from Quicket; under-18s enter free.
