Are you retired, semi-retired, or just not working full-time?
Now is the time to expand your horizons or to learn a new skill or pursue a new activity, and U3A (University of the 3rd Age) Helderberg offers you just such an opportunity, and is holding an information day at the Strand Town Hall, from 9.30am and 11am, on Wednesday December 4.
U3A is a worldwide network of learning communities for older people whose work and family responsibilities are no longer a priority.
The cornerstones of U3A are social interaction, life-long learning and volunteering.
Each U3A branch is run by a committee which assumes overall responsibility for the programme, while members offer their expertise or fields of interest to present courses and organise activities.
The core of a U3A branch is the monthly meeting addressed by a prominent speaker on a topic of general interest.
In the Helderberg, this meeting takes place on the first Wednesday of every month, from February to November, in the Strand Town Hall, at 10am.
Members are informed timeously of the speaker and topic, and notices are also placed in the press and at the libraries.
