This year the Huberte Rupert Memorial Lecture will be presented by Elana Brundyn, and she will talk about Zeitz MOCAA, the Norval Foundation and the soft power of museums.
This lecture was instituted by the Stellenbosch Arts Association to pay tribute to a remarkable and modest woman, Huberte Rupert, for her contribution to art awareness in Stellenbosch and as patron of the arts.
Elana Brundyn was until recently involved in the establishment of Zeitz MOCAA at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, the largest museum for contemporary African art in the world.
As of Wednesday November 1 , she is the executive director of the Norval Foundation, a new large-scale visual arts institute which will open in late April 2018 in Steenberg.
The focus will be on exhibitions of 20th and 21st century artworks in specially designed art galleries and an extensive sculpture garden.
The lecture takes place on Wednesday November 29 at 6pm for 6.30pm at the Stellenbosch University Museum, 52 Ryneveld Street. Entry is free.
