Helderberg Hospice is holding its seventh Cycling for Life endurance cyclathon, on Saturday May 20, at Somerset House School in Somerset West, from 6am to 6pm.
This bicycle ride is longer than the Cape Town Cycle Tour (formerly known as the Argus), kinder than the Epic and more fun on a bike than the average cycle race. Bikes are placed on trainers with computerised speedometers, and sponsored teams of cyclists pedal their way through a gruelling day of stationary competitive kilometres. The event symbolises the endurance with which every cancer sufferer faces their condition, as well as the sustaining care they receive from Helderberg Hospice. There will be spot prizes throughout the day keep the energy and enthusiasm levels up. Either enter a team, or provide financial sponsorship to support those who ride.
