For one night only, wine farms and restaurants in the Helderberg region spread their rainbow colours in a showcase of fine local fare that takes place in Somerset West, on Thursday June 15. This year’s theme colour is red to shed the winter blues.
“Taste the Helderberg rapidly became one of the mainstays on the calendar of Western Cape wine events,” says Stellenbosch Wine Routes manager, Elmarie Rabe.
Taste the Helderberg’s flavour smorgasbord will be served up from 5pm to 9pm, at the NH The Lord Charles Hotel, an arrangement that’s proven ideal for many visitors who traditionally make a weekend of it, in the light of the public holiday the following day, Friday June 16.
Wine-lovers get an early-bird view and sampling of the region’s latest wines, as well as tasters of icons that have put this Stellenbosch Wine Route sub-region on the map.
Many of these wines will be available at special promotional rates that are also applicable on delivery.
Also on offer will be foodie pop-ups by the Helderberg’s eateries, and the chance to learn more about winemaking specifics from the winemakers and viticulturists themselves.
The master classes on grape varieties have been laid on to emphasise the climatic and geographic reasons behind the exceptional quality that hails from this coastal area.
Tickets cost R100, available from www.wineroute.co.za, and any remaining tickets will be sold at the door.
