Class of 2016 shines

Hottentots Holland High School in Somerset Wests top matriculant is Michaela Frieslaar, centre, who achieved seven distinctions with an aggregate of 91.7%. Trevor Izaks, left, came a close second with seven distinctions and an aggregate of 90.2%, and Chris Momoh came third, with six distinctions, and an aggregate of 84.7%.

Education MEC Debbie Shafer recently congratulated the matric class of 2016, noting that she was pleased with the high pass rate and the high percentage of pupils who have completed their schooling. The province has managed to retain 64% of pupils from Grade 10 to matric, the highest in the country, while improving the pass rate by 1.3% compared to 2015.
