Councillor Norman McFarlane of Ward 84 in Somerset West extends a warm invitation to the community to join in the festivities of the switching on of the lights in Somerset West as the traditional lead in to the festive season.
“With the Christmas Season upon us, it is a time when we think about kicking back, putting our feet up, relaxing, and enjoying time with friends and family, while remembering what we are actually celebrating – the birth of our saviour, Jesus Christ,” he writes.
The Christmas lights in Somerset West Main Road has become an annual traditional feature of the festive season, for many years illuminating the streets with the Christmas spirit.
“As commercial as it has become, this is indeed a season of peace and goodwill toward people, and one of the way’s we celebrate Christmas in the Helderberg, is to light up our streets with Festive Season cheer, says Councillor McFarlane.
This year, the annual switch on of the Christmas Lights in Main Road, Somerset West, will take place at 7pm on Thursday December 12, in front of the recently refurbished and painted Somerset West town Hall.
The public is invited to come and join in on this special occasion.
