■ Bolander editor Carolyn Frost popped up to Chilanga Riding School in Somerset West to “borrow” a bag of lucerne on Sunday (a baby hare was added to the family menagerie recently, having been found on a country road in a state of dehydration, and is swiftly moving from a special kitten-milk diet to hard tack). Chilanga has wonderful ties to Bizweni (letter on left), and the children at the centre regularly attend riding for disabled youngsters there, featured in Bolander often over the past decade. This gorgeous horse depicts typical behaviour (… the grass is always greener on the other side…) or, as Erma Bombeck once famously said… “The grass is always greener over the septic tank!”
