The South African Cheese Festival will take place from Saturday September 23, to Monday September 25, at the Sandringham estate outside Stellenbosch.
Hosted over the September Heritage Day long weekend, festival goers of all ages will enjoy all there is to offer at the 20th edition of this event.
“The SA Cheese Festival is more than just an event; it’s a celebration of over two decades of culinary goodness,” says Jacques Fourie, on behalf of the festival organisers.
“This festival offers a remarkable fusion of gourmet experiences, music, and fun entertainment,” he adds.
One of the new offerings this year is a new addition for VIP guests at the pavilion. “This year, we’re excited to introduce an exclusive VIP Hospitality offering at The Pavilion, designed for discerning food enthusiasts seeking an unparalleled exclusive experience,” Mr Fourie elaborates on this.
The Pavilion, a permanent double-story facility on the SA Cheese Festival grounds, will provide VIP guests with a curated culinary journey, including pairing workshops, luxurious surroundings, and private catering. Tickets for this experience are available online.
Activities will range from a carnival-style theme park to tastings (cheese and wine), live entertainment, helicopter flips and so much more.
Visitors will have the choice of either a two-minute helicopter flip or a longer 10 minute flight from the festival grounds over the Cape Winelands.
For the wine and cheese pairing, visitors can buy a wine glass at R35 to sample the wines.
On the food front, chefs will be leading food demonstrations, sharing their insights on the art of culinary craft as well as on cheese varieties and the art of pairing food and wine.
Entertainment will be abundant. “We’re thrilled to showcase an extraordinary line-up of musical talent, with Prime Circle, Watershed, Gerhard Steyn, Elvis Blue, Tasché, Juan Boucher, Mark Haze and other renowned artists whose performances will create a vibrant atmosphere on the SA Cheese Festival grounds,” says Mr Fourie.
The Culinary Marketplace is another new addition. It promises a treasure trove of artisanal creations, gourmet treats, wines, and more from local exhibitors showcasing their products to festival-goers.
Visitors are invited to come and discover unique products, support local businesses and purchase cheese and related products to enjoy long after the festival ends.
The SA Cheese Festival extends gratitude to its partners and supporters, including Simonsvlei, the Western Cape Department of Agriculture, Stella Artois, Coca-Cola Peninsula Beverages, Kfm, UCOOK, LIFT Airline, Protea Hotel Marriott Stellenbosch, and Tekco Packaging Solutions.
