Celebrated South African electric cellist, Carol Thorns, is set to perform in her iconic bubble in a magical, open-air, picnic-style evening event at La Roche Estate, Franschhoek on Wednesday September 27.
Audiences will be charmed by her enchanting sound, while taking in the picturesque and breathtaking vistas of mountains and vineyards surrounding the estate.
Ms Thorns’ engaging performance style and innovative musical concepts have seen her opening for Vanessa Mae and Elton John. A sought-after performer, she has played at prestigious events throughout SA, Europe and the UAE.
Her portfolio of original cello projects, Red Cello Productions, include show-stopper acts such as The Bubble, Rosanthorn Trio, CODA Africa and The Galaxy Dress.
Her debut album received a nomination for the Best Instrumental Album at the SAMA’s, and her new cello album, Sanctuary, is out now on all streaming platforms.
Children are more than welcome with provision of entertainment for the children available. Audiences are encouraged to take their own picnic baskets, blankets and chairs.
Attending this majestic evening will all be for a good cause as proceeds from the event will be dedicated to supporting Country Kids Playschool in Franschhoek.
About this fundraising initiative Ms Thorns says: “I am performing for Country Kids because it is where our daughter, Emily, went to school from age of two until the age of four years old. It is where we made our wonderful friends who are still very much part of our lives today.
“The school gave Emily a supportive and caring foundation for future education. This is my way of acknowledging the power of connection, community and kindness.”
The event is on Wednesday September 27, from 5.30pm to 8pm. Tickets cost R295 for adults, (which includes a welcome drink and snack), children pay R25 (which includes entertainment for children) and are available online from Quicket.
