Avontuur Wine Estate outside Somerset West on the R44 will host the Cab Franc Carnival on Saturday May 20, from 11am to 5pm.
Visitors will be able to taste and buy wines directly from the wineries, and book for one of three tutored tastings of the top six wines in the 2017 Cab Franc Challenge, presented by Cape Wine Master, Christine Rudman.
There will be a public vote to choose the best wine of the day, which will give an interesting perspective on the differences between expert and amateur palates.
Participating wineries are Avontuur Estate, CK Wines, Doolhof Wine Estate, Edgebaston, Hannay Wines, Hermanuspietersfontein, Knorhoek Wine Farm, Lynx Wines, My Wyn, Nelson Wine Estate, Oldenburg Vineyards, Ormonde Vineyards, Raats Family Wines, Rainbow’s End Wine Estate, Spookfontein Wines, The Garajeest, Uva Mira Mountain Vineyards, Vrede en Lust, Warwick Estate, Whalehaven,and Zorgvliet Wines.
Tickets cost R200 which includes the tastings, a R50 discount coupon to spend on food and a tasting glass.
