The Endler Concert Series is delighted to bring you pianist Bryan Wallick on Friday June 24, at 7pm in the Endler Hall, Stellenbosch.
The concert, titled Virtuosic Fugue Vol. 2 features a programme of pieces that each conclude with a virtuosic fugue. The first half looks at the evolution of the fugue from Bach to Marc-André Hamelin followed by Beethoven’s massive Piano Sonata No. 29 in B flat major, Op. 106, Hammerklavier which ends with one of the most famous fugues ever written.
Mr Wallick is gaining recognition as one of the great American virtuoso pianists of his generation. Gold medallist at the 1997 Vladimir Horowitz International Piano Competition in Kiev, he has performed throughout the United States, Europe, and South Africa. He made his New York recital debut in 1998 at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall and made his Wigmore Hall recital debut in London in 2003.
He has also performed at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall with the London Sinfonietta and at the St. Martin-in-the-Fields Church with the London Soloist’s Chamber Orchestra.
Please keep in mind that for all live events current restrictions allow for 50% capacity in the Endler Hall and all safety protocols outlined by the university will be followed.
