■ A group of students in hazard and disaster management from Kingston University in London visited the Jonkershoek Volunteer Wildfire Services (VWS) base on Sunday January 20. The students heard about the importance of fynbos, water catchment areas, and fire management as part of conservation and water security. They then went on a short hike into the Assegaaibosch Nature Reserve to see the fynbos and catchment areas up close. The students are pictured with the VWS volunteer firefighters who accompanied them on their hike. The event was organised by VWS Jonkershoek marketing manager, Zaan Bester, kneeling front, centre.
