When one travels, exploring the culinary tradition of a country becomes one of the major memorable experiences, says Susina Jooste, director of The Private Hotel School in Stellenbosch. “Our second semester students felt that they wanted to share some of this with pupils from the Kayamandi Legacy Centre as part of their event planning curriculum.” Some 30 Grade 9 to 11 pupils joined the students for an amazing race around the world where, the aim was to discover the cultures, food and practices of countries such as China, Italy, Africa and Mexico. A four-course lunch lunch gave them a taste of the exciting flavours specific to these countries.
