Head to the glorious green of Radloff Park for Arbor Day celebrations with the Friends of Radloff Park (FORP), on Saturday September 29, from 9am to noon, where there will be many fun activities for the whole family.
On the menu of events:
Husqvarna (FORP sponsor), will hold a presentation and demonstration;
Arbor Supply (FORP sponsor) will demonstrate how to dress and prune a tree;
Habitat Mature Tree Nursery (FORP sponsor) will hold a presentation on tree planting, and a demonstration of mechanised large tree planting;
There will be a raffle draw – the first prize is a Husqvarna cordless weed eater; the second prize is a weekend at Glenoaks Cottages at Hemel en Aarde Valley’ and the third prize is a Morgester and Vergelegen hamper;
Cape Town City Council has donated 30 indigenous trees (most pre-planted, and there will be a ceremonial planting by a City official on the day;
There will be a local Scouts and Guides orienteering and “Eco Race” competition;
Fred’s Services will be working in a high trees demonstration;
Tabor tossing;
Tug-of-war;
Boerie rolls and drinks will be on sale;
The 2019 FORP calendar will be on sale.
