■ Nima Taylor, pictured, will present “Applying Buddhism in everyday life” to the Somerset West Unitarian Fellowship, on Sunday March 4, at 10.30am, in the auditorium/chapel at Vonke House, Lourensford Road, across from The Playhouse. There will be time for discussion afterwards. Everyone is welcome and refreshments will be served. Entry is free, but you may leave a free will donation. Nima is a former Buddhist nun, author of two books on Buddhism, and founder of Inner Peace Buddhist Center. She has spent the last 20 years studying and practicing Buddhism, primarily with Lama Surya Das, an American Buddhist teacher, as well as other renowned Buddhist masters from all over the world. Nima is passionate about translating the time-tested teachings of Buddhism into practical tools for everyday life. With these tools, we can all cultivate more peace in ourselves and in the world. Nima has a BA and MBA and spent seven years of her life as an ordained minister and chief operations officer in Kansas City, Missouri, for the Unity Church (the Unity Church has principles very similar to Unitarians). While in India for several years, Nima co-founded Inner Peace Society, an NGO dedicated to supporting rural villages.
