The Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS), on Monday January 30, announced the opening for funding applications for arts and culture.
Applications are now open for funding for the 2023/24 financial year.
According to a press release issued by the department it offers this funding every year to organisations and individuals in the Western Cape who support and develop the cultural and creative sectors in the province through their various initiatives.
There are various categories for funding available, including cultural tourism, books and press and performance and celebration.
Minister of cultural affairs and sport, Anroux Marais, said: “We have seen the importance of the arts and culture sector in bringing hope to people across our province, and for promoting mental health and wellness.
“This sector allows artists to present their narratives as they work through their lived experience, while also offering audiences meaningful interactions in safe spaces. We must support this sector and allow it to grow.”
