Despite the national lockdown, animal lovers can continue to enjoy encounters in Paarl, although they might be of a virtual nature. Visit Paarl (Paarl Wine and Tourism) has decided to show their support by adopting a baby alpaca. Mom Barbie gave birth to the adorable little Rona at the Alpaca Loom a few weeks ago. Mother Nature is not standing still, and they are welcoming new cuddly crias (babies), as it is the middle of their autumn birthing season at the Alpaca Loom / Coffee Shop and Weaving Studio. They have been breeding alpacas since 2004, and are now home to over 300 animals. No visitors are currently allowed at the farm, it means no income to feed the growing herd. Members of the public can donate a bale or two of hay, or adopt one of these furry friends (adoptive parents can name them and visit them during a barn tour, once travel restrictions are lifted). Visit www.alpacas.co.za for donations or adoption procedures.
