The director and head of projects for Accountability Now, Paul Hoffman, SC, right, will be talking at the last Helderberg U3A meeting for the year, on Wednesday November 2, at Strand Town Hall, at 10am.
His talk is titled “Establishing an Integrity Commission is the best way to combat corruption in SA today”.
He will focus on the role of the Constitution in preventing and combatting corruption, the work of Accountability Now in regard to corruption and the idea of an Integrity Commission, which would be specialised, trained, independent, properly resourced, and would enjoy the security of tenure of office which he feels is the best way to combat the corruption.
Three successive Judges President of the Cape High Court invited Advocate Hoffman to grace their Bench as an Acting Judge.
In 2006, after 26 years of membership, he left the Cape Bar to take up an appointment as director of the Centre of Constitutional Rights.
Since January 2009, Advocate Hoffman has been pursuing his passion for exacting accountability via setting up and working with The Institute for Accountability in Southern Africa, and pursuing various human rights and constitutional matters.
