A splash of vibrant dragonfly colour

The orange-winged Dropwing is still a newcomer to the Boland area. Although this dragonfly species is fairly common elsewhere in the country, the first one on record for this area was found by local resident, Basil Boer, at Lourensford about 15 months ago, during the summer of 2017/2018. Soon afterwards, it was photographed in Schonenberg too. To Basil’s delight it made its appearance again this summer.
