Reading Norman McFarlane’s article (“A night on the mountain”, Bolander, March 11) made me realise what a wonderful job these dedicated firefighting men and women do, even at the risk of their own health and lives. Congratulations for bringing it to the attention of Bolander readers.
Hopefully, his vivid description of the challenges and hardships of firefighting have succeeded once again to drive the message home, how lucky we ordinary folks are to have such dedicated volunteers, enabling us to enjoy our lives in relative safety at the bottom of those mountains, which carry the name of your newspaper (or is it the other way round?).
Personally, it would give me great satisfaction to see more arsonists being brought to book.
