The Groot Plaasproe on Sandringham outside Stellenbosch is where lovers of traditional delicacies can enjoy roosterkoek, game meat, skaapstertjies, wine and more, from Thursday October 11 to Saturday October 13, from 8am to 6pm.
Food lovers can taste and buy unique combinations such as “Bok and Bier” (boergoat meat and craft beer), as well as popular treats such as Karoo lamb sosaties, Wagyu hamburgers and artisan ice-cream.
And if you think you might be the Cape’s braaibroodjiekoning, make sure to enter “Die Braai Crew” braaibroodjie competition.
Meet more than 300 different animals, watch sheepdogs at work, and learn how wool is spun and cows are milked. Children can lead a milk goat around, ride ponies and play with miniature horses and donkeys.
On the Saturday, big and small can participate in boeresport and an ice-cream eating competition, sokkie and langarm to the tunes of popular artists Die Broers and Wynand and Chereé, or learn to line dance with a group of 250 line dancers and music by Die Wildberries.
Tickets available from Computicket and the gate at R100 for adults, and R30 for schoolchildren (free on Thursday and Friday). Entry is free for children under six, and pensioners pay R50 on Thursday and Friday.
