Helderberg Village Music Society is holding a concert by the students of Virginia Davids, at Talani Terrace, on Sunday September 3, at 4pm.
Featured this year is Nombulelo Yende, who was the recipient of the 2016 Helderberg Village Music Society bursary.
She was one of the young soloists featured in the 2016 Youth Festival with the orchestra and is well sought-after on the concert stages.
Earlier this year she sang the leading role in La Serva Padrona by Pergolesi and will be singing the First Lady in Mozart’s Magic Flute later this year.
Cecilia Rangwanasha is a postgraduate student who is also part of the Cape Town Opera studio, and is on the line-up.
She was the runner-up in the recent Unisa singing competition and will be singing the role of First Lady in Magic Flute later this year.
Also featured is Keanan Mitchell, who is no stranger to the Helderberg community, has appeared extensively in concerts throughout the year.
And Darryn Kenned, who was the recipient of the 2015 Helderberg Music bursary, and is also one of the young soloists performing in the Youth Music Festival with the orchestra, will also be at the event.
He is currently preparing for the role of one of the Armed Men in The Magic Flute.
And Garth Delport has appeared in the Helderberg concerts before, and is currently attached to Cape Town Opera. He will be singing the role of Sarastro in Magic Flute.
Later in the year he will be singing the bass role in Mozart’s Requiem.
Entry is R70 for non-members, and R30 for students.
