Unitarian Fellowship meets

Bevan Sylvester

The Somerset West Unitarian Fellowship will meet on Sunday June 2, at 10.30am for 10.45am, where Bevan Sylvester will be giving the reflection on the topic “Stop fiddling while Rome burns”, at the Chapel Room at Vonke House, 121 Lourensford Road.

Everyone is invited and refreshments will be served. Entry is free, and contributions are appreciated.

Bevan grew up in Somerset West, was a member of the Methodist Church and attended Parel Vallei High School. In his teens, he felt a call to the ministry, and was ordained in 2010, and has served in different congregations across the country, caring spiritually for people of different languages, cultures and economic backgrounds.

He is currently the assistant minister at Somerset West United Church. Family is very important to him. He is addicted to music, obsessed with helping the needy and passionate about his calling.

He believes a shift is needed for us to realise the urgency of the state humanity finds itself in and to work innovatively to create a world where harmony is found and where “justice flows like rivers” (Old Testament Prophet Amos) This talk aims at inspiring and activating listeners to become partners in bringing about a gentler world for this generation and the ones to come.
