The Taalmonument’s first party to celebrate 45 years, reaches a jazz crescendo on Saturday February 29, with a concert by singer Lungelo Motaung (Lungi) and pianist Ramon Alexander, in the Garden Theatre.
The show forms part of the institution’s weekend-long festival that includes children’s entertainment, a fun walk, yoga, midday concert, rock-tronic concert, poetry class and market on the Paarl Mountain.
The concert starts at 6pm, and is open to anyone with a day ticket.
The multilingual, multicultural weekend programme will showcase the Afrikaans language.
The children’s playgrounds and outdoor games, will have some child minders to keep the young ones out of harm’s way with a puppet show, face painting and other activities.

There is also a 5km fun walk, at 8am, and costs R30 for adults and R10 for children under 13, in aid of the Taalmonument’s literacy project. Saturday’s festival day also follows on Friday night’s rock-tronic music of the Akkedis Band as well as Die Heuwels Fantasties.
Beverages and food stalls will be available.
Patrons are advised to dress in warm clothes and to take a blanket.
