Shrek The Musical, presented by the Hottentots Holland Dramatic Society, opens this month at the Playhouse Theatre, Somerset West.
The play is based on the story and characters from the film. Join Shrek (Travis Pitout), our unlikely hero, and his loyal steed Donkey (Jarred Pitout) as they set off on a quest to rescue the beautiful – if slightly temperamental – Princess Fiona (Elena Mitchell) from her tower, guarded by a fire breathing love-sick dragon.
Add the vertically challenged Lord Farquaad (James Bone), a gang of fairytale misfits, and a biscuit with attitude (Bryoni Currin), and you’ve got an irresistible mix of adventure, laughter and romance, guaranteed to delight audiences of all ages.
The show is directed by Darryl Spijkers with Kathy Lin responsible for music.
Opening night is Saturday November 25, a special gala event which includes canapés and champagne. Tickets cost R120 from Computicket.
The show ends on Saturday December 9 with a special charity performance on Sunday December 10.
